Leadership Team



Hack for LA Executive Director Bonnie Wolfe has grown Hack for LA into largest weekly hack night series in the world with 20 project teams comprised of over 100 active participants focusing solely on open source civic tech.  She is also the Agile Mentor on this project proving guidance to both product and tech teams. 


Project Instigator / Voice of the Customer Mya Stark is the Director of LA Makerspace, a division of Two Bit Circus Foundation, which partners with the public library system to bring STEAM education to under-resourced youth.  She believes strongly in the right of every child to learn computational thinking.

 


Tech Lead Benjamin Swerdlow is in his junior year of high school, and his second year at Hack for LA. He’s worked on a variety of coding projects including a volunteer coding project for the WHO, Hack for LA’s Public Tree Map, and New Schools Today.


Data Science Lead Sophia Alice is a Data Scientist/Engineer who specializes in building data pipelines and analyzing text data. She also co-leads the Data Science Community of Practice at Hack for LA and helps organize the biannual Digital Mentorship Program for Out in Tech.

 


Graphic Design Lead Rachel Koukal is a Los Angeles-based designer and creative, formerly of The Walt Disney Company, and currently creating engaging visual design for proptech startup Openpath. Her work has been featured in Makezine, Futurism, and Bustle. 


UX/UI Lead Irina Rostovtseva is from Saint Petersburg, Russia. and has two degrees in design and physics. She worked as a product designer for 5 years at the largest legal tech startup in Russia and built it with its owners from scratch. 

 


Product Manager Karen Coronel's goal is to transform the government into an agent of change in real-time. She has bounced around managing government projects, business development initiatives, and operational transformations.


Product Manager Randall Ellis is a sales ninja by day and product builder by night, passionate about health and the progression of science and technology. He is motivated by the desire to learn and improve his skills, and the hope to make a positive impact on those around him.

 


Airtable Integration Lead Michele Fisher Gomez is a systems thinker and process creator who has worked for profit and non-profit organizations. She has yet to encounter a problem that can’t be solved with spreadsheets, integrations, and coffee.


Code for San José Team Lead Dane Olsen is a Silicon Valley Freelance Web Developer. California born and raised. Passionate about democracy and technology as forces for good in our society.


Open Oakland Team Co-Lead Nicole Wang is a data enthusiast who sometimes spends her free time at civic hackathons thinking about the integrity of our elections. Previously, she worked on the News & Information Partnerships team at Google, and most recently, as a data analyst at Livmote.


Open Oakland Team Co-Lead Deborah Chin is a UX Designer based in Oakland, CA. She is thrilled to be helping to provide this very needed service to voters this year!
